Learning to ride the Starboard K-15

by Josh Tremblay

I’ve spent the last 24 hours getting used to a new board.  Drum roll please… it is my great pleasure to introduce you to the Starboard K-15.  Yes 15, as in fifteen feet.  Yes, it is a big boy, or girl (haven’t decided yet).  To be named later this week.  Here are a couple of shots:

Big board, small car.

This morning I took the K-15 out on very flat conditions on a 2.5 mile paddle.  It’s a fast board on flat water.

Last night was a little different.  I went on a 4.8 mile paddle around Davis Island.  One way I was going into a strong 12-15 mph headwind.  The other way I had a side/tail wind.  It was a bit choppy, and I definitely was having a few balance issues.

This weekend I am anticipating a big paddle.  More to come…

Oh and lastly, it’s great to be back in the water after a one week sabbatical.  I was greeted within 5 minutes by at least one dolphin, possibly two.  The ocean is the great equalizer.

Danie thinks the Prius picture looks like a car advertisement. Like…if you drive a Prius you will be so cool you can be a paddle-boarder, cause paddle-boarders are really cool!!!

That’s funny, because I get teased a bunch for driving a Prius. Good to know someone thinks Priuses are cool… with a stand up paddle board added. ;)
